Sam is a composer based in London and originally from Preston, Lancashire. In 2023 he scored the series JFK: One Day In America for National Geographic and Disney+, We Are Newcastle United and 007: Road To A Million for Amazon as well as Juice for the BBC and Break Point (Series 2) for Netflix. He also co-scored the feature film Kathleen with Amelia Warner and wrote additional music for Sex Education (Series 4) and The Greatest Show Never Made. Previously he scored Plebs: Soldiers of Rome for ITV as well as the feature documentary Mayor, and he also co-scored the second series of Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy with Amelia Warner. He has contributed additional music to All Or Nothing: Arsenal, Young Woman And The Sea and Mr Malcolm’s List as well as scoring AXA’s award wining campaign Birders. Sam has also composed music for Sky, Universal, Sony, EMI and BMG along with numerous short films.

As orchestrator and conductor Sam has worked on TV shows, films and video games such as Buccaneers, Sex Education, Frozen Planet II, Living, Hitpig, I Used to be Famous, Total War: Warhammer, Nightmare Alley, Greatest Days, Reptile, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Our Girl, Guardians of the Galaxy, Evelyn, How To Build A Girl, Spirit Untamed and Us. Sam has also provided additional orchestrations for Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ scores for Wind River, Kings and Mars.

Alongside his work in film and TV, Sam has written and conducted arrangements for artists such as The xx, Betsy, Ellie Goulding, Biffy Clyro, Lady Leshurr, JW Ridley, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Jenny Plant, Freddie Mercer, The Tomicks and The People The Poet, as well as conducting The Heritage Orchestra and Anna Calvi at the Burberry Fashion Show.

In 2022 he released his single Pavane via Deutsche Grammophon and his 2021 EP As Now the Light Retreats is available on all streaming platforms. He is currently working on his debut album.
